The vehicle chassis is among the parts subjected to the greatest loads as a result of driving style. It is particularly stressed by the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, heavy braking or hard acceleration.
In certain situations, weight transfer in a corner can cause one side of the vehicle to be subjected to up to three times more force than the other. This can result in significant deformation and flexing of the chassis or body, causing the tyres to lose grip.
Chassis deformation and flexing during cornering can cause undesirable handling characteristics such as understeer and oversteer.
