A car’s chassis is subjected to heavy loads during fast driving, particularly due to the transfer of body weight during fast cornering, hard braking and acceleration.
When cornering, the load on one side of the vehicle can be up to three times greater than on the other. This causes the chassis or body to bend and twist, resulting in a loss of tyre grip.
Chassis deformation and twisting when cornering can cause unwanted handling characteristics, such as understeer and oversteer.
